With a proper placard, accessible parking can be found both in the parking garage adjacent to the facility and the city lot located across Alexander Street from the Performance Hall loading dock.
Both of the primary entrances on the George St. and Calhoun St. sides are handicap accessible and lead into the shared lobby space between the Martha and John Rivers’ Performance and Exhibition Hall.
There are handicap accessible elevators located in close proximity to either entrance and once through the shared lobby and into the Performance Hall lobbies there are elevators located to the north and south of the central lobby.
Handicap access to the stage and dressing room areas is available via the elevator off stage right and immediately adjacent to the Stage Door on the Northeast end of the facility just off of Alexander Street. Handicap accessible restrooms can be found on every floor and centrally adjacent to each of the facilities’ patron areas.
Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) amplify and clarify sound by cutting down or eliminating ambient noise. Assistive Listening Systems are installed in the Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall as well as all of our Exhibition Halls. We are also equipped with the induction neck loops are available for patrons who use hearing aids and cochlear implants with a “T” switch. Ask your audiologist whether your hearing aid or cochlear implant has a “T” switch (telecoil) and how to use it with an assistive listening headset.
What happens if I arrive after a performance has started?
Patrons arriving late are seated at the discretion of house management. Patrons are seated at the first appropriate break, allowing for the least disruption for performers and seated patrons. Select performances will not allow late seating.
What happens to the performance if there is inclement weather?
All performances are rain or shine. Only in rare weather emergencies will a performance be canceled or rescheduled. Ticket holders will be notified immediately.
Is there a lost and found?
Our lost and found is located at the Gaillard Center Ticket Office.
What is the dress code for performances?
There is no dress code for events hosted in the Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall. For all performances and events held in the Charleston Gaillard Center, attire should be comfortable and appropriate for the occasion.
Are food and beverages services provided?
Beverages and select food is available for all events held in the Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall.
Is photography and video recording allowed?
Taking photographs or recording of performances are strictly prohibited in the theater. This includes cell phone photography and videography.
