Our summer theater program will use the unique Storytree Children’s Theatre playwriting method, which places the child’s voice and imagination at the center of its approach while fostering teamwork, creativity, and entertainment. Students are guided by theater and dance educators as they write an original play, choreograph the dances, design the set and costumes, sing and perform on the stage of the Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall for family and friends.
This full-day camp will begin with brainstorming and playwriting, followed by set design, costume design, choreographing the musical numbers, rehearsal, and a full performance for families and friends on Friday at 2pm. Students will have the opportunity to explore the components of creating a production from the beginning to the end, learning along the way what they love most about theater. This summer we will focus on resiliency with character and confidence building. Camp will take place on the second floor in the Salon spaces of the Charleston Gaillard Center, 95 Calhoun Street.
Your child’s safety is our number one priority. We remain committed to following the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the local guidelines from the City of Charleston. We have already implemented numerous safety precautions for current events, which you can learn more about here.
