Summer Youth Theater Intensive

Presented by the Charleston Gaillard Center's Education & Community Program and PURE Theatre

Students ages 13 – 18 of all skill levels are invited to study with members of PURE Theatre’s Core Ensemble of professional actors in a three-week performance intensive. The group of 18 actors will be cast in, study, rehearse, and perform a full production of Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Classes will focus on critical (and also fun to learn) performance skills: vocalization, characterization, motivations, movement, blocking and staging, and some cool conversations with the designers and technicians who make it all happen behind the scenes and backstage. We will even throw in a few theater games. Classes will be held off-site from the Gaillard Center at Cannon Street Arts Center, the home of PURE Theatre, but students will have the exceptional opportunity to perform for their family, friends, and the Charleston community on the stage of the Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall for their debut on July 19 at 6pm.
