American Ballet Theatre will take to the road this summer, traveling by bus and truck to 8 U.S. cities including Charleston, South Carolina. The Charleston Gaillard Center will present ABT Across America for an outdoor performance at The Citadel’s parade ground, Summerall Field
Repertory for ABT Across America will feature Lauren Lovette’s La Follia Variations, a work for eight dancers set to music by Francesco Geminiani, Jessica Lang’s Let Me Sing Forevermore, a pas deux blending ballet and jazz vocabulary set to songs sung by Tony Bennett, Darrell Grand Moultrie’s Indestructible Light, a celebration of American jazz music, and a classical pas de deux from ABT’s extensive repertoire. Each show will be performed without an intermission.
This is a free event, but please RSVP below. There will not be formal tickets to this event. Please note that your seating location during the event is first come, first served.

EVENT SCHEDULE:
- Field Opens at 4:30pm
- Open Rehearsal begins at 5:00pm
- Showtime is at 7:30pm (50 minute performance with no intermission)
TICKETS: There will be no formal tickets issued to this event as it is free.
SEATING: Seating locations on Summerall Field during the event are first come, first served. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating.
CONCESSIONS: Items available for purchase include watermelon cups, ice cream, Italian ice, bottled water, Gatorade, beer, and wine. Chick-fil-A and Starbucks will also be open in Mark Clark Hall during the event. No outside food and beverages are allowed. Please note: no bills over $50 will be accepted.

PROHIBITED ITEMS: Pets, coolers, tents, and umbrellas are not allowed on-site. Other prohibited items include weapons of any kind (including pocket knives and firearms), projectiles, and illegal substances.
WEATHER: The performance will occur rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather conditions or lightning, the performance will be rescheduled to Sunday, July 18. We encourage attendees to check their email the day of the performance, and follow the Gaillard Center on social media to stay up to date on any changes.

COVID-19: Patrons who have not been vaccinated should continue wearing masks and follow other safety protocols as per the CDC Interim guidelines.
SMOKING & TOBACCO USAGE: The Citadel is a tobacco-free campus. Smoking is not permitted on The Citadel’s Parade Grounds, in buildings, or during this event.
Ordering for the specialty food boxes has closed. All orders can be picked up after 5pm on July 17.

PARKING ALERT: There is a Charleston RiverDogs game beginning at 6:05pm the night of the performance. Please plan your arrival time accordingly.
