Charleston Gaillard Center is a leading non-profit performing arts center in the Southeast dedicated to commissioning and presenting ambitious cultural programming and popular performances that engage audiences, foster community, and prompt essential dialogue.
On October 20 & 21, 2022, the Charleston Gaillard Center and International African American Museum presented Dance Theatre of Harlem. As part of this incredible program, the Gaillard Center hosted an open community class for all ages and abilities, taught by Dance Theatre of Harlem dancer Christopher Charles McDaniel. At the event of the event, the WatotoCharleston Ensemble from WatotoAcademy of Performing Arts at Meeting Street Academy performed an honorary tribute to Virginia Johnson, Artistic Director of Dance Theatre of Harlem.
